We offer EMS courses taught according to the National EMS Education Standards and exceed all minimum requirements of the Texas Department of State Health Services.  Our online courses are distance learning courses you complete at your own pace without having to attend a traditional course.  Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to take the NREMT certification exam.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) treats and transports the sick and injured to medical facilities.  EMRs may open airways, restore breathing, administer breathing treatments, control bleeding, treat shock, administer oxygen, immobilize fractures, bandage wounds, assist in childbirth, manage emotionally disturbed patients, treat heart attack victims, treat poison and burn victims, perform CPR and use AEDs on cardiac arrest patients.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will provide the student with the knowledge and skills to provide emergency medical care in a compassionate, professional and skilled manner.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course the participant will:

  • receive a course completion certificate from Lifesaver Education Courses

  • be eligible to take the NREMT certification examination

  • be eligible to submit an application to the Texas Department of State Health Services for certification

 

COURSE PREREQUISITES

  1. You must apply for admission and be accepted to participate in this course.

  2. You must possess a current completion card for one of the following CPR courses:

  • CPR PRO - American Health & Safety Institute (ASHI)

  • CPR for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA)

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer - American Red Cross (ARC)

  • Professional Rescuer CPR - National Safety Council (NSC)

 

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Code:  EMSE01

Course Name:  Initial Emergency Medical Responder

Begin Date:  Apply and begin anytime

Pace:  You must complete all course requirements within one year, beginning on the day you are enrolled in the course.

Course Length: 70 Hours

  • Self-Learning Required Minimum Hours: 50

  • Virtual Didactic Hours: 4

  • Skill Hours: 16

Breakout Session:  You must attend one breakout session at an approved site.

  2. You must possess a high school diploma or GED.

  3. You must obtain required immunizations prior to participating in clinical rotations.

  4. You must possess a current completion card for one of the following CPR courses:

  • CPR PRO - American Health & Safety Institute (ASHI)

  • CPR for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA)

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer - American Red Cross (ARC)

  • Professional Rescuer CPR - National Safety Council (NSC)

Course Length:  250 hours

  • Self-Learning Required Minimum Hours: 90

  • Didactic Hours: 4

  • Skill Practice Hours: 36

  • Clinical Rotation Hours: 48

  • Field Internship Hours: 72

Breakout Sessions:  You must attend two breakout sessions at an approved site.

Clinical and Field Internship Rotations must be completed at approved sites.
